The hack most likely happened how these hacks always happen: Because a user name was found in one of the many breaches circulating in the dark net, because users reuse passwords they like for other applications, because devices (make this Windows PCs) get compromised and login data extracted.Īnybody with a little bit of knowledge knows how to cloak his access, and using the name „Scannable“ makes the access looking more innocent on the log than using „Bad Hackers own device“ as device name. I doubt that an access through Scannable would allow a hacking attack on an account. However the app only has a limited access, sufficient for what it does, but far from being a full account access. The account login must be provided for Scannable to work. Nobody can „hack“ an EN account through the Scannable app. ![]()
